Built on Community,
Serving for Decades

The Sister Annunciata Center began with one woman’s deep belief that no older adult should be forgotten.

Born in the Bronx in 1916, Sister Annunciata dedicated her life to serving others—not only as an educator and religious sister, but as a steady, compassionate presence in her community. She was known for showing up when people needed help most, offering care, guidance, and connection with quiet strength and unwavering kindness.

In the 1960s, she saw that many older adults in the neighborhood were facing isolation, hunger, and hardship. Rather than turn away, she took action—organizing meals, outreach, and support for neighbors who needed someone in their corner. What started as a small act of care grew into a lasting community resource, rooted in her belief that dignity, companionship, and practical help can change lives.

Today, that same spirit lives on at the Sister Annunciata Center.

We are a welcoming place (with a great vibe!) where older adults can share meals, build friendships, find support, and take part in programs that help them stay active, connected, and engaged. Everything we do is part of Sister Annunciata’s legacy: creating a community where people feel seen, valued, and at home.
